Startup accelerator gener8tor launches in Beloit

gener8tor logogener8tor, Wisconsin’s largest investment and mentoring group for startups, has expanded to yet another city.

Beloit joins Madison, Milwaukee and Minneapolis as a gener8tor anchor city, now that the group has launched a version of its gBETA program targeting early-stage companies in the southeastern Wisconsin manufacturing community.

The program is housed within Irontek, a small shared working space on the banks of the Rock River. There, gener8tor mentors are already working with five startups on fine-tuning their pitches and connecting with potential investors. The companies in the inaugural cohort range from a personal genome analysis service to a software that helps schools raise funding.

 The startups will “graduate” from the program this week at LiveBETA, an event where entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to an audience of investors and other entrepreneurs.

The expansion marks another coup for a burgeoning startup town that’s home to a number of high-growth tech companies. Among the up-and-coming firms that already call Beloit home are the aviation software company Comply365, sales software maker Acculynx and the deals-finding website FatWallet. Read more …
